About
In June of this year a team of Year 6 children will head to Chamonix for a Leadership on the Edge experience in the Alps. The Inspire Alpine Expedition team will journey out from St Pancras to Annecy via Paris with the last leg of the journey taking them up into the mountains where they will spend the next five days in the Chamonix Valley.
During the course of their time away the children will focus on the meaning of well-being at three levels; individual well-being, team well-being and global well-being. Each day will combine hands-on workshops with real life challenges; the children will climb rock-faces, trek in the mountains, spend the night in a mountain refuge and take the cable-car up to the Aiguille du Midi for a breath-taking view of the Alps.
On our final morning the children will meet with the Chamonix environment minister to explore how the Chamonix Valley is addressing global well-being in the context of local sustainability. The children will share their own suggestions and ideas and they will discuss both what is happening in Chamonix and how we are addressing the sustainability challenge back here in Walton on Thames and more specifically at Ashley School.
The expedition promises to be a life changing experience and one that we hope will deepen in each member of the team a sense of well-being for themselves, each other and the beautiful world in which we all live.
